The American Revolution was a miraculous point in history, but it is quite possible that the greater revolution was the United States Constitution that the efforts of those revolutionary Americans allowed to be brought to life. A document that shook the world and attempted to forever change the way that man viewed his relationship with government.
As we look now at the seemingly unsolvable problems that are bankrupting our country and tearing us apart as a people, is it possible that have we strayed so far from the basic precepts of this revolutionary document that we can not even imagine that the States would be the crucibles best suited to solve these problems?
This was the Constitutional vision for our Country. A dynamic "market place of ideas" where the best solutions would percolate to the top. Where Americans could "vote with their feet." A country where the individual pursuit of happiness could exist! Where enlightened self interest and a reverence for liberty would naturally bind us together. Where freedom could work it's magic and set the spirit free. If you entrust me with this office, I pledge that this is my vision and that I will faithfully comply with the simple 'oath of office' developed by the first Congress of the United States: "I do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States." I do so swear,Jason Meade
